About Us

Ken and Debbie Lyle have been involved in Australian Shepherds since 1976 when they purchased their first Aussie, VCH CH Shanti’s Rowdy Rustler CDX, OTDc, ATDds. Rowdy’s show career began in obedience, which then led to the trial arena and breed ring. He obtained multiple High in Trial and Most Versatile Aussie awards and was also a Best of Breed winner. The culmination of his achievements was being awarded Versatility Champion #3 in ASCA®. Back then the Lyle’s never could have known that purchasing that “little blue dog” would lead to a lifelong love and commitment to this wonderful breed.

Ken is a former ASCA® President, Vice President and Board Member, and Debbie served as the Membership Secretary. After 30 years in the breed, Vaquero Australian Shepherds has made its way to ASCA® Hall of Fame Kennel #35 and continues to produce quality Australian Shepherds. Ken is an ASCA® and AHBA Stockdog Judge and offers lessons at the ranch. As a result of their dedication to the breed, many Vaquero dogs have excelled in the stock arena, obedience, agility, conformation and tracking.

Jason and Stacey Lyle were married in June 2007. They attended Cal Poly, SLO, together and graduated in 2004, both with degrees in Agriculture Systems Management. Stacey rides competitively in Working Cowhorse competitions and has competed in agility and stockdog trials with her rescue Cattledogs, Shirley and Angus.

Amy Lyle is attending Oregon State University, where she is majoring in Agriculture Business Management and
